GRE Overview

Many business and graduate colleges across the world use the standardized GRE (Graduate Record Examination). It measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical writing skills required for graduate-level courses. Multiple-choice questions and essay writing assignments make up the test, which assesses a candidate's capacity for information analysis, problem-solving, and clear thinking representation.

GRE Test Structure

Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning are its three primary components. Analyzing a topic and an argument are the two tasks used in Analytical Writing to assess critical thinking and essay-writing abilities. Verbal Reasoning assesses text analysis, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Math, algebra, geometry, and data interpretation abilities are evaluated using quantitative reasoning. Additionally, there is an experimental portion of the test that is not scored for research purposes. Analytical writing scores vary from 0 to 6, while verbal and quantitative scores range from 130 to 170. The GRE is a computer-based exam that is offered all year round and lasts roughly three hours and forty-five minutes.

Analytical Writing

Two writing tasks: Issue and Argument analysis.

Verbal Reasoning

Tests reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence.

Quantitative Reasoning

Includes problem-solving and data interpretation questions.
